Artist and Nature Lover:
I have been enjoying my professional career as an artist and art educator since my studies of painting and art education at Massachusetts College of Art (BFA-1980) and psychology at Boston College.
As an exhibiting artist, my work has appeared in numerous juried art exhibitions, charitable art auctions and gallery art exhibits. My paintings and ceramic murals are installed in Boston area hospitals and many of my pieces are owned by private and corporate collectors.
My main body of art work is derived from the landscape, primarily created outdoors in the plein air style, where I create series of works from favorite scenes. Venturing out into the the elements, I paint familiar and newly discovered nature scenes in different seasons, at different times of day, and in various weather conditions, much like the Impressionists. I paint both the gritty and the beautiful in nature; coastal landscapes, seascapes, marshlands, mountains, sunflowers, iris, and more.
During the winter months, I paint in my studio; creating abstractions of my landscape themes or working from observation on still life, interiors, and figurative subjects. I paint with oil, watercolor, and acrylic paints, but my art practice also includes drawing, printmaking, and ceramics.
As an art instructor, I have been fortunate to be able to inspire a love of art and art history in children, teens, adults, and seniors in schools, art museums, hospitals, private homes and community art centers.
Also trained as a yoga instructor, (RYT) and Reiki Master energy healer, I have created workshops and classes that combined the teaching of art with relaxing yoga and meditation.
